New blog for Pyeongchang Olympics! “An Artist Writes About Figure Skating”

Yu-Na Kim, Olympic Gold Medalist, Women’s Figure Skating 2010, and Soohorang, Mascot of the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics!

Many of you know me as an artist who often uses sports as metaphor and the athlete as subject in my work. I sometimes write about sports, too, especially figure skating, in casual emails with friends. I’ve decided to take advantage of the Pyeongchang Olympics to focus my writing and share my thoughts in a more focused way. If the topic piques your interest, feel free to check it out!

About Lisa Young

My hybrid studio practice includes installation, book, video, web, and photography. My projects examine the intersection of the pedestrian, the repetitive, and the imperfect with the transcendent, the beautiful, and the perfect. I am interested in the way that the repetitive action of accumulating and organizing can create its own poetics. I grew up in Illinois, completed the Whitney ISP program in 1996, and teach Interdisciplinary Synthesis at the Lesley University College of Art and Design in Cambridge, MA.
