Work included in Reframing Photography: Theory And Practice (Routledge)

Reframing Photography: Theory and Practice (Rebekah Modrak with Bill Anthes editors, published by Routledge) is a book and website about photography in the widest possible sense of the word. Each presents a broad and inclusive rethinking of conceptual and technical aspects of photography across time periods, across themes, and through varied materials.

For a comprehensive online database of photo-related artists, search Resources, and then Artists, by last name and/or tags that identify artists with similar concerns.

To find my page, visit the Resources section of the website to search their artist database here:

About Lisa Young

My hybrid studio practice includes installation, book, video, web, and photography. My projects examine the intersection of the pedestrian, the repetitive, and the imperfect with the transcendent, the beautiful, and the perfect. I am interested in the way that the repetitive action of accumulating and organizing can create its own poetics. I grew up in Illinois, completed the Whitney ISP program in 1996, and teach Interdisciplinary Synthesis at the Lesley University College of Art and Design in Cambridge, MA. You can see my work at
